The thing with Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs) is that if you’re the manufacturer or retailer, you’re always looking for ways to make your goods move that bit faster.

The best long-term method that won’t denigrate your product or brand is to create a strong desire amongst consumers. One so powerful, you actually have to pull out all the stops to keep up with demand. That’s the holy grail of marketing.

I’ve created marketing campaigns and been involved in the development of products, brands and packaging that have delivered unprecedented sales. For example, an interactive TV campaign for Ronseal did rather more than it said on the tin and helped to increase sales of their multi-purpose smooth filler by 800%. Also, almost two decades on, a TV and poster campaign I created for Northern Food’s historic brand Holland’s Pies is still talked about by the client.

A deep understanding of consumers and their behavior is essential before even picking up a pen. Only by really knowing what motivates them can you begin to create concepts that seize their attention, maintain it and generate repeat purchases.

I work closely with leading design consultancies and brand specialists to not only create innovative brands and packaging for the FMCG products themselves, I devise full multi-media marketing campaigns. From TV, press, radio and outdoor through to direct mail, online and social media, my ideas shift products.
