Lapicida Maison&Objet Paris blog post
I write the blogs for luxury natural stone and tile specialist Lapicida, in addition to looking after all their social media. When something newsworthy has happened blogs are a great way to get out there and communicate to your customers. People love being kept abreast of the latest news, trends and styles, and Lapicida is considered to be at the forefront of design and technology in designer natural stone surfaces, furniture and accessories. This blog, for example, was to cover Lapicida’s debut at Maison&Objet, in Paris – one of the interiors deign world’s leading professional trade fairs dedicated to lifestyle, decoration and design. Lapicida launched several new collections including new furniture and accessories collections designed in collaboration with jewellery designer Lara Bohinc and legendary interior designer Anouska Hempel. In addition to writing and publishing blog via their fully transactional Magento website, I resize and upload the relevant shots, too.
Despite attending on numerous occasions, Lapicida had never exhibited at Maison&Objet, until this January. Internationally regarded as one of the most important European events for interior design, the show features a huge assemblage of innovation and talent all in one place.
For our debut in Hall 7 on Stand J46, we showcased some of our latest natural stone products and also the latest pieces that are the result of our unique collaborations with leading international designers.
The Erosion Collection demonstrates an entirely new form of craftsmanship and reflects our unique approach to stone. The collection has three remarkable statement pieces inspired by a dialogue between nature and technology: The Erosion Bowl, Vase and Platter. The iconic design is born from our Head of Product Development’s exploration into 5-axis CNC. We commissioned Swiss-based designer Ini Archibong, who replicated natural weathering of a solid block of Carrara marble using our state of the art CNC shaping mill’s digital tool paths. Following 50 hours on the CNC, a delicately eroded pattern emerged and each piece was then hand-finished, with the interior painstakingly polished to vividly contrast with the textured exterior.
Continuing our highly successful ongoing ‘Lunar’ collaboration with designer Lara Bohinc, we moved into a new phase with two entirely new elements seen for the first time at Maison&Objet.
Inspired by the planets and their orbital movements, the Lunar Collection features luxury marbles set like jewels within golden rims. The newest additions ‘Collision Console’ and ‘Half Moon Mirror’ are compact design statements that harmonise with the larger tables in the collection. They have true decorative and dynamic poise and a refined luxury.
In 2014, Lapicida collaborated for a second time with Elle Decoration Best British Designer, Bethan Gray, to create the Brogue Table. It took one of her signature stitched brogue designs and created a limited edition version of the Brogue Table in marble, complete with a complex edge hand-engraved with 747 individually holes. So popular was this design classic, we have now put the Brogue Table into production. Available in two sizes, including the new Side Table, they have the same sleek, architectural look and tactile finish as the original.
